On 10-12th of November, 24 top students engaged in early-stage business development participated at a data driven business development workshop and competition at Corvinus University of Budapest.

Did you know that Corvinus University does not have an entrepreneurship centre (yet)? Everything that happens at Corvinus in this context is practically the result of bottom-up activities initiated by university lecturers. Therefore, international cooperation is even more important to us so that we can expand and constantly improve our services. This is where the Accelerate-EEE project, which is currently underway, is of enormous help and we cannot be thankful enough for the support of EIT Digital.

For “The Next Step” workshop, organised within the framework of the Accelerate-EEE project in Budapest, we received 34 registrations from university students and staff for the 20 places, not only from Hungary, but also from the UK (University of Glasgow) and from the Netherlands (Vrije University of Amsterdam). Even the Corvinus students had different nationalities, which led to a really diverse and colourful group of participants. The startups covered a very broad spectrum, from legal tech to SDG-focused to social enterprises. All teams were in the early-stage business development phase, meaning that they are in the post-ideation stage but do not have a prototype yet. Only startup teams were accepted for the workshop, solopreneurs not.

At the end of the workshop, there was a competition among the participating teams. The main prize was a fully paid trip to a similar workshop, taking place in spring 2023 at the University of Glasgow.

Jury members were Prof. Jillian Gordon, professor of entrepreneurship at the University of Glasgow, Dr. Hans Drenth, director of StartHub at VU Amsterdam and Dr. Péter Fehér, Vice President for International Relations at the Corvinus University of Budapest.

The following teams from the Corvinus University of Budapest will travel to Glasgow for the next business development workshop in spring 2023:

- Reality Room

- Timie

- Life+

Teams QADAM and Librantis got free entry tickets for the Untold Stories startup festival, taking place on 29-30th of November in Budapest. Each ticket has a value of EUR 149 and all startup team members will get a ticket.

These teams from Glasgow and Amsterdam participated:

-  Oxaigen (NL)

-  AMJ Tech Consultants (UK)

-  Theria (UK)

-  Nightingle (UK)

Since the focus of the startups was heterogeneous and the participants were from several countries, this workshop was a high-level professional challenge for the speakers and mentors. We are very grateful for the work and intensive preparation to the following colleagues at Corvinus University of Budapest: Kitti Dióssy, Dr. Endre Molnár, Máté Csukás, Dr. László Kacsirek, Dr. Tim Gittins, Dr. Robert Pinter, Dr. Zsolt Balogh, Dr. Attila Petheő and Dr. Loretta Huszák.
